The 2025 growing season continues to challenge us, but our fields are progressing — and we’re seeing several key trends emerge across our trade territory. Here’s what our agronomists are observing this week, along with recommendations to help keep your crop on track.

🌽 Corn: It's Grow Time (and Go Time)

Corn’s in its rapid growth stage, and most fields look solid, aside from some ground-out wet spots. This week, here’s what you need to keep your eye on:

Fungicide Timing = Now

Most fields will tassel in 7–10 days.

That means it’s time to decide: go premium with Miravis Neo, or choose a generic like Aquila XL.

Miravis Neo = longer protection + better plant health. It’s not cheap, but it pays. Plus it qualifies for our deferred payment program. Don't pay on your aerial fungicide application with Miravis Neo until December 20, 2025.

👉 Your call: invest now for yield, or try to get by with a lower-tier generic.

Rootworm Is Here (Kind Of)

We’re seeing early signs of corn rootworm larvae. Damage is light — for now.

Dropping roots in water? You’ll spot ‘em.

Get ready to deploy sticky traps and scout for beetles.

🌱 Soybeans: This One’s Been Rough

Beans have been frustrating this year. Ground-out spots, weird diseases, and now Phytophthora root rot is showing up.

What You’re Seeing

Plants look yellow, then wilt… but the leaves stay attached.

Warm + wet soils = perfect storm for Phytophthora to show up.

What to Know

It’s waterborne and lives in the soil — like white mold, it sticks around for years.

Seed treatments help early, but it’s not a cure-all.

Genetic resistance matters. Different soils = different races of the disease.

How to Manage It

Step 1: Scout and map the fields now — if it's here this year, it'll likely show up again.

Step 2: Choose resistant varieties (ask your Ag Plus agronomist about Rps genes like 1a, 1k, 1c, 3a).

Step 3: Improve drainage. No standing water = fewer spores.

Step 4: Pick the right seed treatment next year — like Ignite Defender for strong early-season protection.

💡 Big picture: Don’t just react. Make a game plan now for next year.

🌾 Wheat & Small Grains: Fungicide’s Done — Now Eyes on Insects

Most fungicide applications are wrapped. Now your focus should be:

Keeping the crop upright through grain fill

Scouting for insects — grasshoppers, armyworms, etc.

Foliar feeding pays off, especially under stress.

👉 Simple tip: Walk the fields. Don’t assume they’re clean.
