We want to inform you of an important change regarding our Slayton shop and convenience store. After completing our winter strategic review, the Board and leadership team evaluated which assets were contributing toward long-term financial strength and which continued to face challenges. With four convenience stores already located in Slayton, the opportunity for meaningful growth at this site has become increasingly limited. Because of this, we have made the decision to sell the Slayton shop and c-store.

While ownership of the shop will transition to Slayton Tire, LLC at closing on December 31, 2025, we want to reassure you that several key services will remain unchanged. Ag Plus will continue to operate the cardtrol fuel pumps at the site, allowing 24/7 access to fuel for the community. We have also adjusted our bulk fuel routes to ensure ongoing service to Slayton-area farms, homes, and businesses. Ag Plus Rewards card 3¢ per gallon savings will continue to be honored at the cardtrol pumps just as they are today.

The c-store portion of the operation will close at the end of December, and we will begin winding down inventory in the coming weeks. On the last day of December, the location will close briefly so inventory can be counted and system updates can be made as part of the transition.

We recognize that any change brings questions about employees, and we want to be clear that all current staff have been asked to remain on with the new owner. C-store employees will feel the greatest impact since the retail portion will no longer operate. Ag Plus is committed to supporting those employees—whether through opportunities with the new owner, assisting with job transitions, offering references, or working with local partners such as the chamber of commerce.

Although this was not an easy decision, it is one that supports the cooperative’s long-term financial stability and ensures our ability to focus on our core divisions. This transition allows us to reinvest in the areas where Ag Plus is strongest, while still maintaining an important fuel and service presence in the Slayton community.
